Scared, me? err, well yes actually. When the entries went in a few weeks ago, July the 6th seemed like such a long time away, but as with all big scary races, race day comes around soon enough whether you’re ready or not. This weekend’s National Team Time Trial champs are no exception.

I arrived to the transition area early in the morning. I checked my bike and put on some nutrition. Although I was in a big hurry I just finished about 6 a.m. Than I put on my wetsuit and went to the start line. There were so much competitors (2600 persons) that I could hardly go through the crowd. At the startline I run against two other Hungarian guys who were quite a good swimmers. At least we fell into the first line, Zamora Perez stood on my left hand, HervƩ Faure stood on my right hand, so we were in limelight.

So after a light week I went to race Homem de Ferro (http://www.homemdeferro.org/) mainly to see how my body would deal with the hard training done in June. I had break records on bike miles totals so I was hoping to feel good on the bike and see how it would unfold on the run.

The GP of Wales turned out to be arguably the toughest race on the UK calendar, Taking in the notorious Tumble Mountain, and a very difficult hill on the finishing circuit, that had to be covered 8 times. The teams race plan was to get Liam to the bottom of the tumble mountain in good shape. Unfortunately we missed a big split early on with only Jon Mozley in it along with most of the pre race favourites. With the gap of around 1min 50sec, Moz came back out of the break to help the team start a big chase.

So the Scandal and the Flash Xentis wheels certainly did the trick on Saturday at the UK Xterra. The conditions were definitely not what i was hoping for, as it rained pretty much from start to finish. It is now pretty well known that my biggest weakness in Xterra is my MTB technical skills. Add on to that the wet and muddy conditions, and things get a whole lot harder…and messier. I bet Mel Mcquaid was wishing she had made the trip after all!

So itās time for me to put away the Stealth for the weekend, and dust off my On-One Scandal as I attempt to tackle the delights of Xterra UK again. Luckily for me the guys at PX/On-one have also hooked me up with some super sweet wheels to go with it. Some Xentis Mtb wheels. A lot of people have now seen the Xentis TT wheels and the super light high modulus versions, but few have seen these flash looking MTB wheels. Boy are they light? and they look cool too.
